TREATED LUMBER
* Number 2 grade treated lumber for your back porch deck is what you find in most big lumberyards. With number 2 grade treated lumber you will have bark edges and knots that are falling out. It’s affordable, and easily available.
* Number 1 grade treated lumber for your back porch deck is NOT easily available in the big lumberyards. With number 1 grade treated lumber you will have No bark edges and NO knots falling out. It costs about 30% to 40% more than number 2 grade treated lumber for your porch deck.
* Never paint over your treated lumber until it dries out completely! If you paint over treated wood while it is wet you will trap the moisture inside of it. Your paint will blister and peel off like dead skin, and you will have to repaint everything once more. It takes about 2 to 3 months before treated wood is dry and ready to paint. Unless you pay extra for kilt dried treated wood.
